Love! One word to rule them all, One word to find them, One word to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. Love is a feeling of eternal happiness. So, I have been regularly blogging on a regular basis now, and with the last few posts, I have made it pretty clear on my identity, my idea of existence and my weird sense of humor. Some ladies out there might actually be thinking, “Is this Guy Taken?” or, “Is he in love with someone else”? That ends today.
Incase, you didn’t get it or your internet is as sucky as mine, the picture was a snap of a T-Shirt which said “ I’m actually in a very committed relationship, with an animation of Pizza below”, and I am sure that even if you are Joey Tribbiani from FRIENDS, you are sure to get the message (OMG! My insult humor is off the charts). So this blog post is dedicated to the love of my life: the appetizing food from the land of Silvia Berlusconi and Monica Belluci; Pizza.
Food for some is the fuel that allows them to get through their lives on a daily basis. For me, it has always been the reason of my existence (True Story! Barney Stinson Style). Most of the residents of this earth eat or consume food to exist, but for the unique piece that I am, I exist for food. It has gotten me through some of my darkest times of my life (being the fat kid in high school is tough), and now when good food is as rare as a good movie in Bollywood, I really treasure and cherish its existence in my depressing life (For the dramatic effect, my life is actually very fun!). Food has been the second thing I fell in love in my life, after my mom (Bring out your aww’s ladies, I am a mama’s boy), it has been my best friend, a companion in this quest for survival.
I met pizza when I was 7 years old, the commercials of Pizza Hut had already hyped up the awesomeness that filled this luscious treat, inside and out. My parents had gone out for some work in the evening and they brought back the best gift, since the TV which aired its commercial, a meaty-scrumptious- lip-smacking pizza in all its glory. It was love at first sight. This creation of God bowled me over, and the journey of life became a little easier that day. I had found my “jeevan-sathi” (Damn you! Hindi serials…).
Wikipedia defines, a pizza as, “Pizza is a flatbread generally topped with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in an oven. It is commonly topped with a selection of meats, vegetables and condiments” (Could the description be any more boring?). For me, this delectable treat has been equivalent to the head in my mother’s lap, a letter from my loving grandad, the kiss from your girlfriend, the friend with a silly anecdote, the umbrella in the rain, and the orgasm for your tastebuds. Be it the Plagiarized Barbeque Chicken, the Ingenious Pepperoni, the Delightful Peppy Paneer, the Glorious Golden Sizzle, or the Classic Margherita, it is heaven in your mouth.
Usually eaten warm or hot, but reaches insane levels of deliciousness when it is cold, this Pizza has spent all its life to bring peace to this world, the celebration food for any occasion- be it birthdays, anniversaries, got hired, extra pocket money, new relationships, FC Barcelona won, or it maybe as simple as an alternative to “What can we get for food that is both, nutritious and full of flavor?” The one answer in this whole wide world is: Pizza. When a box of pizza opens, friendships are created, relationships blossom and happiness is shared. To respect brevity and make sense in one line, “A lot can happen over a box of Pizza, and more can happen if there are multiple boxes”. (Take that CCD, I ripped off your clichéd tagline and put it to good use).
Pizza has taught me to love myself and as Marshall Erikksen would say,
“[Scoffs] Just pizza? Let me tell you about the thing you say is “just pizza.” We begin with the first bite. Aww, the crunch, and then marinara, that roiling lava of tomato and oregano it overtakes you. I’m falling. And that’s when she catches you, that chewy voluptuous mistress Mozzarella, oven-kissed cheeks crackle with warmth in your mouth, cradling the sauce and the bread letting you know from now on this is home. This pizza… It’s home.” Amen to that and, Hail the delectable meal/snack appropriate at any point of the day. Long Live Pizza!
